Creating, Managing, and Using AI Mentors
Learn how to create and interact with customized AI mentors
Accessing and Creating an AI Mentor
Access the AI Mentors page to create a new mentor. You can use PDFs as data sources or contextualize the AI Mentor with your notes in the supbject section. The AI will base its responses on the data provided by you or the direction you provided with the topic you wrote manually. Interactions with the mentors you create on this page are stored locally in your browser.
Chatbots created in the data portal automatically appear in the Learning Hub
On this page, you will also see the chatbots you created in the Data Portal. Chatbots created in the Data Portal are visible to all members of the organization (or class if you prefer).
Generating an AI Mentor
- Upload a file (a PDF) to create a Mentor (which is simply an AI chatbot that you feed with your data).
- The system will extract the content to develop them on a specific topic.
- Avoid submitting overly large PDF files.
- If the PDF file comes from a scan, use optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from scanned images.
Interacting with an AI Mentor
Once the AI mentor is created, engage in a conversation to ask your questions. Keep in mind that these exchanges are stored locally on your device, thus ensuring your privacy.
AI Mentor Features
AI mentors are designed to be personalized assistants. They can:
- Answer questions on specific topics
- Offer detailed explanations
- Guide users in their revisions
These mentors are trained on the sources you provide, such as book chapters or course notes. Unlike standard chatbots, AI mentors are intended to be more expert on specific topics, and their responses are more in-depth.
Example of use: An AI mentor in biology could answer questions about cellular processes based on textbook chapters you've uploaded.
